MACHIYA:SAUNA KYOTO
Just a 5-minute walk from Karasuma Oike Station! A private sauna offered as a private house rental in a renovated 160-year-old machiya townhouse. The ink-painting-style sauna room allows self-service löyly, and there is a semi-open-air cypress cold plunge bath overlooking the garden, plus rest areas including a veranda and a tatami room. Sencha green tea and Japanese sweets from long-established shops are served too.

Advance reservation is required for the private sauna. It runs in 3-hour sessions (9:00–12:00 / 12:30–15:30 / 16:00–19:00 / 19:30–22:30). Overnight guests can use the sauna at any time.
