At this inn, a private bath is not something you book for a single session. Any of its 18 open-air baths can be used on the spot as a private bath (kashikiri), free of charge, whenever it is free. Just turn the sign at the entrance to "In use", with no paperwork needed. The baths include a large open-air bath along the river, a hinoki cypress bath, a cave bath and a bath with a sauna. All of them use free-flowing hot spring water straight from the source, from the property's own hot spring source; the abundant natural flow near the headwaters of the Tone River is what makes it possible to supply so many baths. Yunokoya Onsen in Minakami is a quiet spot surrounded by mountains and rivers. The inn is intimate, with just 22 guest rooms, including rooms with a private open-air bath and detached villas. Dinner is a kaiseki course dinner featuring iwana char and Joshu beef, and local craft beer is also available. Day-use bathing is offered too, so you can enjoy bath hopping without an overnight stay.
